Most studies evaluating the efficacy of atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation report follow-up periods of 1 year to 2 years, but few report long-term results of ≥5 years after ablation. Therefore, we evaluated the long-term efficacy (i.e., >5 years) of segmental antrum pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) for paroxysmal AF. Seventy-one patients (60 ± 10 years, 56 men) who underwent PVI for paroxysmal AF from January 1, 2002, to August 31, 2003, were followed for at least 5 years after their index ablation procedure.
